Why are my results different to results from my GP?

Some biomarkers are sensitive and can fluctuate depending on the time taken or if any food has been consumed. The results we provide you with are accurate at the time you took the sample.

Our lab holds UKAS accreditation and adheres to the same strict procedures as you would expect in an NHS laboratory.

We have recently carried out data research with the University of the West of England comparing thousands of venous blood samples (blood samples taken from the vein) to thousands of finger prick blood samples. The findings from this research found there to be little difference between a result produced by a venous sample to that produced by a finger prick sample.

However, if the blood samples are taken at different times, using different labs and different blood samples it is very unlikely that any two sets of results will be identical.
